The KitchenAid Fruit and Vegetable Strainer is a great addition to your KitchenAid Stand Mixer.

The food blender, which comes with coarse and fine platters for solid meats, vegetables, and cheeses, is perfect for making fruit and vegetable sauces, chutneys and jams. Because it aids in filtering or pureeing foods, the Fruit and Vegetable Strainer is also suitable for use with a blender.

It is made up of a strainer that connects to the power hub of the KitchenAid Stand Mixer and a shaft that fits into the hole of the stand mixer. Connect the strainer tray, bowl splash shield, grinder, strainer cone, food pusher, fine plate for meats, and coarse plate for difficult vegetables and cheeses.

I LOVE this electric food mill! I use it for applesauce, squash, and green beans. It’s incredibly fast and easy to use.

The hopper is big enough to make a lot of things at once. I just made a couple of batches of applesauce in less than 20 minutes total. The straining screens did a great job of removing the skins and seeds from my apples. And cleanup was a breeze. I highly recommend this product!

I also like the reverse function, which makes it so you don’t need to worry about jamming or accidents.

The one downside is that it’s on the more expensive end of electric tomato strainers, but I still think it’s worth the cost.

A fruit and vegetable strainer set is a kitchen tool that can be used in a number of different ways in order to create a variety of food products. This particular product is designed with two tools in mind: a strainer attachment and a grinder attachment.

The strainer attachment does exactly what you would think it does- it has little holes in the bottom that lets the pulp, skin, and seeds out while holding the flesh inside. The grinder attachment grinds food into various-sized pieces.

These two attachments are both easily removable from their base for easy cleaning. I found that this was helpful when I was making applesauce- I could use the strainer attachment to get my apple sauce out of the way so I could clean up the other items in a matter of a few minutes.

I really liked that this product was so quick and easy to use, as well as efficient. The strainer worked perfectly for getting rid of apple skin and seeds while keeping the pulp inside, which I didn’t even have to cut up beforehand!

I wish that the grinder attachment worked just as easily when I tried to use it to grind up some beef. Although the beef did get ground up, it did not come out in small pieces like I was expecting. It didn’t seem very efficient for this purpose, but if you are looking for a lightweight solution for making applesauce or other fruits and vegetables, then this set is perfect.

This product is also very easy to clean, which is always a plus in my book! It’s dishwasher safe so you don’t have to put any elbow grease into scrubbing it down. It does come with its own cleaning brush as well, so if you are trying to be efficient then this can help quite a bit.

I also really liked how quick and efficient this product was when it came to getting food out of the way. I never want my kitchen appliances to take up too much space, especially in a small place like an apartment.

This attachment set is a great solution for anyone who wants a lightweight, easy-to-use tool that won’t end up taking up an entire drawer like other appliances.

Pros

  • The powerful motor makes quick work of a variety of fruits and vegetables
  • Easily removes food from the base for easy cleaning
  • Durable metal construction won’t rust or break under normal use

Cons

  • Doesn’t have great fine grinding capabilities

The Norpro 1951 “The Original” Sauce Master is exactly what I need in my kitchen. It has three different screens that I can use to strain away liquid and get just the solids, which is important for some recipes such as applesauce.

It also gets the job done quickly, which I find to be an advantage–I don’t have to worry about what the food has been sitting in.

The only thing that would make this product better is if it had a wider strainer, but other than that it’s an excellent product. Even so, I feel like this purchase was worth it because of how well it works.

Pros

  • It has 3 different screens which help with straining food.
  • The product gets the job done quickly, which is an advantage.

Cons

  • This product doesn’t have a wider and longer screen for larger foods such as applesauce.

Applesauce Maker Benefits

applesauce maker

Applesauce is a healthy and tasty snack that everyone loves. But did you know it can also be made in minutes with an applesauce maker?

Once you’ve tried the fresh taste of homemade applesauce, there’s no going back to store-bought jars. Here’s why:

Applesauce is usually sold in glass jars which can break or leak if they’re heated up too much; the microwave heats food unevenly, leading to hotspots where bacteria can grow. Jarred applesauce often contains added sugar and other ingredients like corn syrup or preservatives that add unwanted calories and sugar without contributing any nutritional value.

Many brands have been found to contain traces of arsenic from pesticides used to grow the apples. And did you know that fruit juice concentrates are often made from imported fruits?

By using a homestyle applesauce maker to make your own healthy snacks at home, you will save yourself time and money. You can control the amount of sugar that goes into your applesauce by adding less or none at all, depending on how much fruit you use.

Homemade meals are always healthier because they don’t contain extra ingredients which increase the calorie count without adding nutrients to your diet, so you’ll benefit your health by making your own.

And without all the added ingredients, you can feel confident serving your homemade applesauce to children and adults alike. They’ll love it on top of yogurt, ice cream, or even right off the spoon!

Factors To Consider When Choosing Applesauce Maker

applesauce maker

Applesauce is a great way to eat healthily and have fun in the kitchen. But what kind of applesauce maker should you buy?

There are so many different types, from hand-cranked models to fancy electric ones with all sorts of attachments. How do you know which one is right for your needs?

In this article, we’ll look at five factors that can help you make an informed decision on which type of applesauce maker will suit your needs best.

What Type Of Apples Do You Use?

If you like fresh apple cider, then a crank-style machine might be just what you need. They work by turning the handle manually until it reaches the desired consistency, then pressing the apples through a mill (some use rollers).

If you’re making applesauce for babies, the crank models are probably your best choice since they will be less likely to put whole chunks of fruit in their mouths.

If you prefer using store-bought apples or cooking your own at home, then an electric machine might be better for you. The motor and blades will do the work of turning and grinding the apples for you, and they usually come with a variety of optional attachments that can make the process easier (such as slicing or peeling).

How Many People Do You Want To Serve?

If you’re only cooking for you or maybe one other person, then an individual-sized machine might be the best choice. Smaller hand-held options are lightweight and easy to store away in a cupboard. Their small size also makes them good choices for people with limited mobility.

Multi-serving machines are usually bigger, but they’re able to make a batch of applesauce for the whole family or even a small party. A lot of them come with smaller attachments that let you make single servings too, making them ideal if you’re cooking for more than one person.

applesauce maker

How Much Space Do You Have?

One advantage of electric appliances is that they don’t need much space. They can sit on your countertop and hook up to a power outlet, taking up very little room. Crank-style models usually come with storage boxes that you can put away in a cupboard or closet, but they’re not as compact as other types of machines.

How Much Do You Want To Spend?

Individual machines are usually cheaper than multi-serving ones. However, they’re typically smaller and come with fewer attachments.

If you only want to spend a little money on an applesauce maker because it will be used infrequently, then this might be the best choice for you. That said, don’t discount the costs of replacement parts or attachments that you might need for a long-term investment.

If you’re looking for an applesauce maker that will last, then it makes sense to spend more. Multi-serving models are usually more expensive since they have additional features and attachments.

But if your family eats a lot of applesauce or you’re looking to make small batches, then an investment in a multi-serving machine will pay itself back over time.

Do You Want Any Special Features?

If you want a simple applesauce maker that can handle a variety of fruit and other ingredients, check the manufacturer’s description for any attachments.

Some can handle other tasks besides applesauce, such as pureeing soups or baby food. They might also come with accessories that let you slice or peel your fruit before you put it in the machine.

If you’re looking for an easy way to store large batches of applesauce, check the capacity of the food container. Some come with a self-storing lid, a large opening for a funnel, or even a vacuum seal to keep your sauce fresh without additives.

How To Make An Applesauce

If you’ve never tried to make your own applesauce, then you are in for a treat. It is simple and easy to do with the right equipment and ingredients. You will be amazed at how much better homemade applesauce tastes than store-bought versions that have been sitting on the shelves for too long.

In order to make the best possible applesauce, there are several steps involved:

  • First peel and core your apples, removing all of their seeds. This can be done by cutting them into quarters or eighths before peeling off their skin with a vegetable peeler. Remove any bad parts like spots or bruises as well; they won’t taste good when cooked.
  • Next place peeled apple pieces into a pot filled with water until they are barely covered.
  • Then cover the pot and cook on low heat for about 30 minutes or until apples fall apart when pierced with a fork.
  • Once your apples have been fully cooked, remove them from heat and allow them to cool for several minutes.
  • Using a blender, food processor, or masher, break down your cooked apples until they form a chunky sauce. If you’d like your applesauce to be smoother and less lumpy, feel free to blend it for longer.
  • Next, add some sugar and spices such as cinnamon or nutmeg if you want to give it an extra kick of flavor.
  • Finally, pour the finished product into a bowl and allow it to cool in the refrigerator for up to a week before serving.

FAQs about Applesauce Maker

How long does a batch of applesauce take to cook in an applesauce maker?

Applesauce Makers promise that they can make fast work of any type of fruit. They safely cook the right amount of water and sugar to create nutritious, delicious, flavorful applesauce in about 8-10 minutes for fresh or properly canned fruits.

Some models feature an automatic shut-off function to turn off the unit when cooking is complete so it’s safe for any age person to use.

What type of apples do I need for the Applesauce Maker recipe?

You will need the sweetest and juiciest apples available for recipes that call for cooking down or stewing. To balance acidity in foods, use a tart apple such as Granny Smith apple.

No matter what type of apples you decide to use, it is important to never add an excessive amount of sugar to your dishes. It can feed fungal growth in your body causing serious health problems like Candida yeast overgrowth, leading to the following symptoms: fatigue, headaches, depression, and bloating among others.

You may also find that homemade sauces are not as thick on top because honey has less binding power than unprocessed plant sugars found in fruit pastes for example.

Can I freeze apple sauce made with an Applesauce Maker?

It is ok to freeze the apple sauce made with an applesauce maker. Even though it may not be quite as consistent of a texture, usually once you reheat the apple sauce sufficiently it will taste just fine.

applesauce maker

Can I add sugar to your applesauce when using an Applause Maker recipe, or is that optional only?

Yes, just add it to the applesauce with the mix-ins.

The best way to do this is by using a food processor or blender. Just be sure you wash your tools thoroughly after each use so there’s no cross-contamination with raw ingredients – that could cause food poisoning.

If you don’t have either of these handy, use a large spoon and stir in sugar until combined!
